Medications containing Aspartame & Sucralose

Medications that include Aspartame, this was a list from 2007-2015 - I've updated products from Amazon and UK supermarkets over the counter medicines (2019). Feel free to comment if there are others you know about. Anything chewable or consumed as a liquid (soluble) should be checked for containing artificial sweeteners.

Medications that contain Aspartame do not always state it on the label. In fact, in most cases, the word Aspartame is deliberately omitted and replaced with its lesser known synonym: contains phenylalanine. Therefore, any drug label that lists phenylalanine as an ingredient means the medicine contains aspartame. Medications require labelling *at the moment if Phenylalanine is present in the medication due to the condition: Phenylketonuria (PKU) - this is when the body cannot process the amino acid: phenylalanine.

*This may change in the future, as screening of Phenylketonuria at birth started in the 1960's - anyone born prior to that wouldn't have been screened for the condition.

Please be aware that some drugs companies are not stating in the ingredient list that they include Aspartame - be vigilant and watch out for loved ones who have to go to hospital for treatment. My husband received liquid morphine last year (pretty sure the sweetener was Aspartame) and he ended up having another psychotic episode. Unfortunately, I couldn't be with him all the time but I got him home as soon as I could to recover.
